Hoggard wins, moves into tie for third

WILMINGTON, NC - Hoggard won their second straight game on Friday night by defeating Rose 52-46 at James Hebbe Gym.  The win moves the Vikings into a four-way tie for third place with just two games left in the regular season.  Stilman White and Lawson Ahrens combined for 35 points for the second game in a row.

 

Hoggard (10-10, 3-5) never trailed in winning consecutive games for the first time since January 5th.  They held the Rampants to just 31.8 percent shooting from the floor.  The Vikings were able to maintain their lead with solid defense and a great performance from the free throw line.  Hoggard made 18 of their 22 free throw attempts.

 

White had 21 points, four rebounds, four blocks, three steals, and 3 rebounds.  Ahrens added 14 points while Darius Plummer contributed six points and 13 rebounds.

 

The JV team lost 62-52 at Rose to drop to 8-8 on the year and 5-3 in the conference.

 

Hoggard will be back in action on Tuesday when the varsity team travels to Ashley and the JV team hosts the Eagles.
