Zack Allen named MEC Co-Player of the Year

WILMINGTON, NC - Hoggard senior guard Zack Allen was named one of the Mideastern Conference’s Co-Players of the Year by the league’s coaches.  Allen averaged 12.4 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game while making 62 three-pointers, shooting 70 percent from the free throw line, and collecting 41 steals.  Hoggard also had three other players to collect MEC All-Conference honors.  Seniors Logan Cain and Will Keistler were also named All-Conference while sophomore Stilman White was named Honorable Mention All-Conference.

 

Cain led the Vikings in scoring at 13.8 points per game.  He also was the team leader in 6 other categories, including offensive rebounds and blocked shots.  Keistler averaged 6.9 points and a team high 5.6 rebounds per game.  He also led the team with 113 assists and 55 steals.  White averaged 8.5 points and 2.5 assists per game while shooting 78 percent from the free throw line and collecting 49 steals.

 

For his career, Allen ranks high in several Hoggard career statistical categories.  He is eighth in scoring with 897 points, second in made three point field goals with 147, first in assists with 365, first in steals with 136, fifth in three point field goal percentage at 34 percent, seventh in career free throw percentage at 76 percent, and first in games played, games started, and minutes played.  Most importantly, he is the all-time winningest Hoggard player with 90 victories.

 

For his career, Cain is seventh in scoring with 900 points, fifth in rebounding with 400, fourth in career field goal percentage at 49.8 percent, second in blocked shots with 104, and ranks second in victories with 67.
