Vikings win Shootout By the Sea opener

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC - Hoggard jumped out to a 10-0 lead and never trailed as they advanced to the semifinals of the Shootout By the Sea in North Myrtle Beach with a 64-57 win over Pinewood Prep.  The Vikings led by as much as 19 points and held off a furious rally by the Panthers to get the win.  Hoggard will face Wren tomorrow at 4:30 p.m.

 

Hoggard (5-2) led 38-19 with just over eight minutes remaining in the game.  Pinewood, the four-time defending SCISA 3A State Champions, did not quit and scored 38 points the rest of the way.  Fortunately, the Vikings did a good job at the free throw line, connecting on 16 of 20 in the fourth quarter and 26 of 34 in the game.

 

Stilman White led Hoggard with 20 points, five rebounds, and three assists.  Darius Plummer added 17 points while Drew Combs had 12 points and 10 rebounds.
