Hoggard snaps losing streak

NEW BERN, NC - The Hoggard Vikings broke out of their shooting slump and snapped a five game losing streak with a 47-29 win over New Bern on Tuesday night. The Vikings hit nine three-pointers on the night with seven coming in the first half as they built a 28-12 halftime advantage and cruised to their first win since January 5th.
New Bern (11-8, 2-5) jumped out to a 6-0 lead before Hoggard (9-10, 2-5) responded with a 31-6 run that carried one minute into the second half. The Bears shot just 26 percent from the floor and scored in single digits in every quarter.
Stilman White had 18 points, four rebounds, and four assists to lead Hoggard. Lawson Ahrens added 17 points and four rebounds. The Vikings had assists on 12 of their 18 field goals in the game.
The Viking JV team made it a sweep on the evening with a 76-61 win at home against New Bern. Nick Stauble and Patrick Griffin each had 14 points for Hoggard. The JV’s are now 8-7 overall and 5-2 in the conference.
Both teams will be back in action on Friday against J.H. Rose. The JV’s will be on the road at 6:00 while the Varsity plays at home at 7:30. |
