Vikings offensive struggles continue

WILMINGTON, NC - Hoggard shot just 24 percent from the floor as they dropped their fifth straight game on Friday night, falling 48-36 at Laney.  The Vikings trailed by just two points entering the fourth quarter, but were outscored 17-7 in the final eight minutes.  Junior guard Stilman White led Hoggard with 17 points.

 

Laney (5-11, 2-4) led 16-9 with just over five minutes remaining in the first half when Hoggard (8-10, 1-5) went on a 10-3 run to close the half and tie the score at 19.  White scored all ten of the Vikings’ points during that stretch.  White was 6-12 from the floor in the game, but the rest of the Vikings were just 5-33 (15%).

 

The Hoggard JV’s lost their second straight game on Friday by a score of 43-38 at home against Laney.

 

Both teams will be back in action on Tuesday against New Bern.  The varsity will be on the road at 7:30 while the JV’s play at home at 6:00.
