Hoggard wins third straight game

WILMINGTON, NC - Stilman White had 26 points, six assists, and five rebounds to lead Hoggard to a 62-50 win at Ashley on Tuesday night.  White made all seven of his field goal attempts as the Vikings won their third straight game and remained in a third place tie in the Mideastern Conference with one game to play in the regular season.

 

Hoggard (11-10, 4-5) jumped out to a 6-0 lead and never trailed in the game, building a 31-19 halftime lead by holding Ashley to 29 percent shooting.  The Vikings built as much as a 16 point lead in the second half before Ashley cut it to six with around two minutes remaining.  Hoggard made 14 of 16 free throws in the fourth quarter, however, to seal the win.

 

For the game, Hoggard shot 64 percent from the floor and 71 percent from the free throw line.

 

With one game remaining, Hoggard is tied with Laney in third place and one game behind Rose for second.  Ashley and New Bern are one game behind the Vikings.  New Hanover clinched the league title on Tuesday night with their win over Rose.  Hoggard will host New Hanover for Senior Night on Thursday at 7:30.

 

The Hoggard JV team defeated Ashley 46-39 on Tuesday to move to 9-8 overall and 6-3 in the conference.  Joe O’Donnell led the way with 13 points.
