Hoggard holds 2009 awards banquet

WILMINGTON - The Hoggard Men’s Basketball Program held their annual awards banquet last Monday night at the First Baptist Church Activities Center. The JV team was honored for their 16-6 season and the Varsity team was honored for their Mideastern Conference Tournament Championship, their fourth consecutive 20-win season, and their fourth consecutive trip to the NCHSAA Sweet 16. Here is a list of all of the individual awards that were given out: · NCHSAA Scholar-Athletes: Travis Smith, Tyler Heffernan, Zack Allen, Stilman White, Tommy Hubbard, Lawson Ahrens, Justin Leitch, Will Keistler, Will Jacobs, Logan Cain, Brad Busby, Michael Byrd (The Vikings were also a Scholar-Athlete Team with a 3.16 unweighted Team GPA.) · Most Assists: Will Keistler · Most Rebounds: Will Keistler · Best Free Throw Percentage: Stilman White · Best Defender: Travis Smith · Leon Brogden Scholarship Award: Tre Simpson · Most Improved: Tyler Heffernan · Coaches Award: Brad Busby · Team Captains: Zack Allen, Logan Cain, Will Keistler, Travis Smith · Most Valuable Player: Logan Cain · Sheila Boles Viking Heart Award: Will Keistler
