Vikings cruise to win over New Bern

NEW BERN, NC - Sophomore forward Trevor Singleton had 27 points, 10 rebounds, and
five blocks to lead Hoggard to an 85-65 win at New Bern on Wednesday night. The Vikings,
who have now won nine of their last ten games, moved into a first place tie in the
Mideastern Conference. Joe O’Donnell, Tyler Thayer, and Christian Poveromo also scored
in double figures.
Hoggard (12-3, 3-0) used a 32 point second quarter to erase a 19-11 New Bern lead.
The Vikings carried over their momentum into the second half as they outscored New
Bern 27-10 over the first 10 minutes to take their biggest lead at 73-49.
New Bern (5-8, 0-3) shot just 25 percent in the second half and turned the ball over
20 times in the game.
O’Donnell had 16 points and four assists while Thayer had 14 points and Poveromo
added 10 points.
The Vikings will be back in action on Friday night when they host Ashley at 7:30.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Hoggard JV team moved to 7-4, 2-1 on the season with a
57-51 win over New Bern. Malik Wright led the Vikings with 19 points.
